The Carder Steuben Club has given $3,000 to the Corning Museum to prepare a brochure that can be placed within the museum to direct patrons to Building “B” across the parking lot. The Rockwell Museum owns the largest collection of Carder’s Steuben glass (3,000 items) which is located by loan in a gallery outside the main part of the Corning Museum. Sadly, many visitors come to Corning, see the wonderful exhibits portraying the history of glass at the museum and don’t realize there is this extensive and comprehensive exhibit of the entire works of Mr. Carder, merely across the parking lot.
To help solve this problem the Club has funded this brochure. A draft of the brochure was shared at the Symposium and is attached as a scan. There is still a little editing to complete it, but it should be strategically placed throughout the museum shortly. If you are going to an antique show, or have other opportunities to disburse these brochures, if you will let me know, when they’re printed we can get some copies to you that can be used for that purpose.
Also, we’ve been contacting members whose membership has expired to renew their membership.
$35 for singles and $55 for family memberships. I just realized that what I’ve sent out was a form used by Early Auction where they made free memberships available to those attending their auctions. An effort by the Early’s to support the Club and support interest in Carder Steuben glass. We hope if you’ve been contacted or wish to join the Club that you’ll make application., which is attached. Membership runs from Sept. 1 to Aug. 31, 2007. Our membership, in turn, includes a membership in the Corning Museum
