Issue 163
You’ll find attached a letter from CMoG you might find of interest. This relates
to our renewal of Club membership with CMoG which, in turn, gives each of our
members dual membership in CMoG by virtue of belonging to the Carder Steuben
Club. The letter outlines the benefits of CMoG membership. Quite a good deal
for membership in our Club.
I found the opening paragraph about the rising prices at auction quite interesting
and newsworthy. Just nice to see it in writing.
Also, the letter addresses the growing alliance between Carder Steuben Club and
CMoG. The benefits will be evident at our Symposium on Sept. 15 & 16. First,
the entire Symposium will be staged at CMoG.
Then, on Friday evening we’ll have a dessert reception with the Carder collection
at Bldg “B” of CMoG. At the reception we’ll celebrate the reuniting of the
stunning pair of amethyst cut glass Spanish Galleon candlesticks with its
pedestal center bowl. As you may recall, we in a creative partnership with
CMoG, preserved this console set, which will then be dedicated to the Robert
Rockwell for his key role and commitment to preserving the legacy of Mr. Carder.
On Saturday night we’ll have our closing dinner, honors to Mr. Carder and auction
at Corning, Inc. headquarters building.
I recently had the need to develop a holder or base for a Carder plaque that I
own. In talking to member Jeff Purtell he suggested that Bruce Bozman was a
“go to” person for this type need. He was surprised I hadn’t heard of Bruce.
bruce.bozman@adelphia.net There may be any number of services, such as
display bases, lighting, repair services, display supplies and the such where
members have knowledge or experience they wish to share and make
recommendations. While we, as a Club, don’t want to get in to commercialism, it
may be that for support type services that sharing this information can be of
service to our members. So, if you have a particular service you can highly
recommend, please let me know.
Finally, I understand that Tom Dimitroff has been under the weather. Also,
Eleanor Cicerchi, Development Director at CMoG is undergoing back surgery. We
wish them well and hope to see them back in action soon.
