“Unexpected Color: A Journey Through Glass”
A presentation of the Thomas N. Armstrong III collection currently on display at the Newark Museum. This exhibition of over 130 examples of Carder’s colorful glass examines his glassmaking experimentation and reveals Armstrong’s use of glass in dialogue with art and furnishings in his homes.

“Today’s Steuben and the Current Status of the Crystal Industry”
This presentation will provide an update on the Steuben brand and its relationship with CMOG. An overview of the crystal industry and the challenges and opportunities in today’s consumer market will be discussed.

It’s back! This fun and entertaining event is designed to help test your knowledge of Carder Steuben glass, and maybe some competitors too. Be prepared to learn a thing or two as well!

Studio Hot Shop
This will be a live studio demonstration of how different types of decorations used in Carder pieces were created. Several techniques will be explained and shown on a hot glass piece.

The Upstate Auction Company will be conducting a live public auction of glass, with a focus on glass produced during the Carder era and some Steuben crystal, as well as glass produced by any Corning NY company during the time period between approximately 1875 – 1955 and other related items.

“Commerce, Carder Style: Promotion and Publicity”
This presentation expands the documentation of the marketing of Carder Steuben glass. Glass trade journals and home furnishing periodicals provide insight into what Steuben was selling and highlighting from 1903 – 1932.

The focus of this presentation will be several lines of H.C. Fry Glass Company art glass and the company’s types of reeding, threading and optics used to enhance their glass.

“Mastering Modernity: The interwoven Legacies of Walter Dorwin Teague and Sidney Waugh at Steuben Glass “
Industrial designer Walter Dorwin Teague and fine arts sculptor Sidney Waugh played pivotal roles in Steuben’s dramatic transition to a modern design ethos in the 1930s. Juxtaposing the individual contributions Teague and Waugh made to the early modern era at the company opens new pathways for understanding how Steuben navigated the business and artistic complexities it faced.

A long-time member of our club, Kathie and her late husband Bill began seriously collecting Carder Steuben about 20 years ago. She will share with you pieces from her collection – from lamps to demitasse cups.

“ID Clinic”
Do you have a piece of glass that you are not sure whether it is Carder Steuben? Or maybe you just have questions about a piece? Bring it to the ID Clinic to have it evaluated by experienced Carder Steuben collectors. This will be an interactive discussion and learning opportunity.

Attendance at the Annual Business Meeting is limited to members in good standing of the Club.
Attendance at the auction on Friday evening is open to the public.
